Luigi Mazzer

Boram Um, 2023 World Barista Champion, shows how to prepare his signature Espresso Martini with an easy recipe you can make at home.

For this recipe, we use a premium Brazilian coffee that undergoes pulped natural processing to enhance its natural sweetness and aromatic qualities. The coffee's floral notes and sweet honey undertones create a delightful flavor profile for the cocktail.

Ingredients:

  • 20 gr of Brazilian pulped natural processed coffee
  • 1 oz sugar syrup (made with 1:2 water to brown sugar ratio)
  • 1 oz vodka
  • 1 oz cherry liqueur
  • Ice cubes

Process:

  • Pull a double shot of espresso in a carafe and let it cool down.
  • Prepare the sugar syrup by dissolving brown sugar in water at a 1:2 ratio over low heat. Let it cool before using.
  • Add equal parts of sugar syrup, vodka and cherry liqueur to the coffee.
  • Fill the shaker with ice cubes and coffe mixture and shake well.
  • Strain the cocktail into a chilled martini glass using a fine mesh strainer to ensure no ice falls into the glass.

Tips:

  • Use plenty of ice to ensure the drink is served chilled, but be careful not to excessively dilute the beverage with the ice.
  • Shake really well to give a nice texture to the drink.
  • If you are using a Mazzer Philos go to grind setting 20/50 range, if you are using an Omega X hand grinder go to 8 - 10+4 range

Sip and savor the delightful blend of sweet, floral notes from the Brazilian coffee, balanced with the richness of the vodka and the fruity essence of the cherry liqueur. Enjoy your Espresso Martini!
