FAQs

Which burrs should I pick?

The Mini g is supplied with 233M bearing steel flat burrs, which deliver well balanced extractions, rich velvety texture, nice acidity and a relevant body, particularly suited to cut through milk. The structure of flavours is complex and its intensity stays through the whole experience.
Mini g can be equipped with an optional second set of high-performance special steel burrs which stand out for sweet delicate extractions, soft flavours, silky texture, and medium body. They fit well with light roasted coffees as they balance acidity and enhance sweetness. This set of burrs is particularly easy to dial in.

Do I need to season my burrs?

Mini g's burrs have a unique and dedicated surface finishing which makes them ready to go and stable straight from the very beginning. To initiate the grinder, just make sure you don’t use the very first 50 g of ground coffee to brew coffee.

What is the retention of Mazzer Mini g? Can I use it as a single dose grinder?

Mazzer Mini g is ment to be used as a hopper grinder, loading beans in the hopper and gradually dosing coffee with the provided user interface. When used with the hopper full, the grinder has a retention of approximately 8 grams - this refers to the coffee that remains in the grinding chamber, behind the burrs, and in the chute. This is the amount of coffee which should be purged after a change in the fineness of the grind, to see a difference in the extraction time. If you are looking for a single dose grinder see the Mazzer Philos. When used in single dosing mode, at steady level (so after the first 3 doses ground), the retention is on average approximately 0.1 g.

Can I spray my beans with water?

Mazzer recommends not spraying the beans with water before grinding, as this could cause clogging of the burr outlets, risk of jamming and burr oxidation.

Can I install third-party burrs on my Mazzer Mini g?

Mazzer highly recommends not using burrs which are not conceived and designed by Mazzer for the specific model. This includes burrs from other producers, but also burrs made by Mazzer for other grinders. This advice takes into consideration several technical aspects, including the basic functionality of the grinder over time. Using a different set of burrs affects motor performances, heat, retention, static, capacitor wear, vibrations, particle size distribution, burr parallelism, chamber cleanliness and more. The only recommended burrs for the Mini g are Mazzer 233M and k202P.

How many kg per day can I grind with my Mini g?

Mazzer Mini g is recommended for grinding up to 1 kg of coffee per day.

Do you check parallelism of the burrs before shipping?

Each component related to adjustment and grinding undergoes tolerance checks using both optical and contact measurement technologies after machining. The factory's tooling equipment is inspected several times daily to ensure proper calibration in response to changing climate conditions. In addition, our team also performs parallelism checks at the end of the assembly line.

Why there’s coffee ground in my new Mazzer Mini g?

Finding ground coffee between the burrs is perfectly normal when you purchase a Mazzer grinder. At Mazzer, each assembly operator is responsible for assembling and testing the grinder from start to finish, including grinding some coffee beans to ensure everything is working perfectly.
